Starting a Fundraising Campaign

Hope is Not Lost, Consider Stating a Fundraising Campaign

To start a successful fundraising campaign one should follow these guides. These are not limited means for raising funds, as there are several other ways. Starting a fundraising campaign could be a daunting task, right from planning, tips, ideas, and the actual creation of the campaign or fundraising project. The most direct and easy to start a fundraising campaign is the online fundraising campaign where all you need is to have your cause at hand and the opportunity (Platform) to tell your story.

1. Build a coordinated multi-channel campaign: you can make use of a combination of websites contents, social media, traditional media (radio, Tv, print), and email blasts. The essence of this means is to send a strong and appealing message to your supporters wherever they are and motivate them as well to take action that can maximize your chances of reaching that goal.

2. Create a sense of urgency: the shorter the timeline of your campaign creates a sense of urgency. A good campaign timeline should ideally last for a week or two.

3. Craft a call, clear call to action: Try as much as to be straight to the point. Supporters and the general public want simple causes and effects such as save a life, give to less privilege.

4. Set clear realistic goals: Your goal should be a realistic one and clear. Do not set your goals too high. You can be ambitious, but keep your goal within reach so that people are not overwhelmed. Help us pay Jan's school fees of N1000 by September 10th, 2020 is different from help us to raise N100,000 to pay Jan’s family members to school.

5. Make it easy to act: making a donation is one thing the process of bringing the donation to a cause is another thing. Make sure that:

  • Your donation process is quick and easy like  Click to donate
  • Make your donation page mobile friendly to enable people to donate from wherever they are
  • Enroll in the youtube for nonprofits so that people can click right from your video to make a donation
  • Embed a big “DONATE” button on your fundraising email that takes people straight to your donation page
  • Make sure you have your donate website test run by others too before launching the website

6. Tell your story visually: Something must appeal to the sense of the public; A donor can only be moved to donate if He/She is sure there is a cause that requires urgency. The importance of visual storytelling for your organization. Your narration should be emblematic of your work.

7. Be Different: Setting up a tangible project for people to rely on is another crucial campaign approach. Being different from another campaign approach will appeal more to the public.

8. Engage your supporters: in the bid to get your supporters to make a donation, endeavor to create an avenue for your supporter to own a voice, the energy around a campaign spreads when the supporters themselves have a voice, face key role in bringing your message to life.

9. Stay focused: Your campaign should be a fairly short it should be centered on what difference will these funds make, whose lives will be touched, how much have you raised and how much do you have to go, which of your supporters are bringing in the most donors? have you met your designated goal? What creative things are supporters doing to help you

10. Follow up: do not be quick to close your campaign without letting your supporters know how it went. Did you meet your target goals: congratulate and appreciate everyone for their supports?
